Horse Scout review of “improver” stallion with consistent High Premium ranked British Breeding Futurity progeny: Woodcroft Garuda K – Woodcroft Stud

Woodcroft Garuda K, a successful and elegant international grand prix dressage stallion, has a worthy reputation as an improver stallion. British Breeding Futurity results going back as far as 2009 show just how successful Woodcroft Garuda K has been and with no less than 6 elite stallions in his own pedigree, it is not hard to imagine that one of his 28 sons and daughters put forward for British Breeding Futuritys’ grading will be stepping up to the plate. Since 2009, with little variation in scores awarded, his progeny have consistently scored between 8.00 to 9.41 – averaged out this gives a consistent 8.52, placing the average offspring of Woodcroft Garuda K offspring in the higher premium rating for BBFA . With three of his young stock placed in the top 20 in the country, Woodcroft Gonales takes Elite and Reserve Champion within his section.

Champion British Breeding Futurity Progeny sired by Garuda K

Woodcroft Garuda K has also produced champion and supreme champion Trakhener foals in 2011 and 2012 with best British Bred & Reserve Supreme Champion Woodcroft Noah. Woodcroft are also producing Champion mares with 3 year old Woodcroft Natalia being awarded Premium Mare in 2013 Woodcroft Hertensong awarded Champion Performance Test Mare, Supreme Champion and also premium mare.

Woodcroft Garuda K is fully licenced as a graded Trakhener and Westfalian Verband stallion, and the with British Breeding Futurity rankings as a champion stallion on progeny results. Woodcroft Garuda is a Warmblood Breeders Society Reserve Champion & Group 1 Stallion. Whilst most of his British Breeding Futurity progeny are assessed for dressage, he has a fair few going forward for eventing too. With his 2009 assessed stock now 6, it will be interesting to watch their careers in the competitive arena.

British Breeding Futurity Higher Premium Awards in Eventing

It is interesting that of the nine 2014 Futurity Higher Premium awards in eventing, 3 offspring are directly sired by Trakhener stallions (One by Woodcroft Garuda K)

The smartest of Dressage Pony Stallions, Futurity Sports Pony record holder ‘Woodlander Wales’

At 14.1hh, Woodlander Wales is small but perfectly formed. With the sweetest of temperaments given to him by his father Woolander Wavavoom, he also has that powerful frame and picture-perfect presence which has already bought him top rankings three years running at the Futurity Sports Pony Awards in 2011, 12 and 13 (at the WBS UK – a record score of 85%)

Woodlander Studs’ Woodlander Wales is graded WBS-UK, SPSS and Weser-Ems.

Woodlander Studs’ beautiful young stallion, wrapped up in a package of pure pony charm, is working well under saddle and looks set for certain success in the competition arena after his performance testing in Germany. He will be a dream ride for any top dressage rider who will have to embrace his forward thinking attitude. Woodlander Stud say “His temperament is absolutely charming, but he does like to go…and go…and go!”. Owner Lynne Crowden says “he will hopefully go to a talented young rider and become an FEI pony”

His dam, Helen, was bred by Mostyn Powell out of a very successful section C mare line and it is these Welsh lines that formed the basis of the best of German Pony breeding – so Lynne must be confident of his success in Germany.

Bred to a pony mare, he will be producing quality pony stock. This is a stallion for both FEI ambitions and for the national sports pony.

Vince Homozygous Black Stallion

Homozygous Black Warmblood Stallion Review: Vince

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Vince is a modern dressage horse with an elegant self carriage, presence and grace. This gorgeous homozygous black warmblood stallion stands at 17hh.  He is an eye catching stallion who exudes presence in the competitive arena. His progeny carry forwards this elegance and, being homozygous black, he breeds bay/black progeny. From Country Farm Studs, Vince had many successes as a young horse including winning or being placed in all the BD Young Horse Series tests (Shearwater, Rhinegold & Nuumed) qualifying him for the National BD Young Horse Championships.

Vince’s warmblood sire Gribaldi KWPN Keur stallion was ridden by Edward Gal to countless victories in the international arena and was a leading dressage sire.  His sons include Panted Black, Anky Van Grunsvens ride, and another of Edward Gals rides Moorlands Totias (himself a world record holder). Gribladi had sired 10 licensed sons and became the #1 sire producing consistently high caliber offspring. Vince is an example of his Gribaldis’ quality stamp.

Vince has been consistently awarded impressive scores including 9 for his walk and high 8’s for his trot and canter. Judges described him as a very athletic, loose moving horse with three excellent gaits and strong presence.

His consistent good scores resulted in him being invited to the World Class Start & Potential selection day, to be assessed by a panel of experts including Emile Faurie and Carl Hester. Vince also has numerous wins at novice & elementary level with scores over 75%, and he has regularly qualified for the regional dressage championships. He has all the ingredients required to produce consistent results at advanced dressage competitions.

His progeny are still young but are certainly quality horses in their own right, and they have been given premium status by the Oldenburg Society.

Woodlander Wild Child – A British Hanoverian Stallion and a futurity star mapped by his superb breeding.

A future dressage superstar By Woodlander Wavavoom x Woodlander Farouche, this beautifully made stallion at stud is a 16.3hh chestnut graded WBS UK.

The futurity evaluators commented on his “excellent proportions, balanced trot and his superb freedom in his shoulder” when Woodlander Wild Child scored 9.79, the highest futurity premium ever awarded at Solihull 2011.

Woodlander Farouche (his dam) had two foals and both were born by embryo transfer. Crucially though, the genetic link has not fostered a parental bond! “We’ve got an interesting photo of them glaring at each other in a car park.” said owner Lynne Crowden.

Woodlander Wild Child is a Double Futurity Elite WBS Foal and Supreme Champion Licensed Stallion (Hannoverian, WSB-UK) – Double Licensing Champion. “A champion all the way from the day he was born” say his owners.

Woodlander Wild Child became the WBS: UK Supreme Champion in 2011, and in 2013 he was again the top dressage two year old and then gained a stallion licensing “double” with both the Hannoverian International and the WBS – UK. His World Champion mother is Woodlander Farouche who was not only a world record holder for a dressage score, she also had a top scoring approved Hannoverian sire in Woodlander Wavavoom. Woodlander Wild Child is certainly from the best of the best.

He is an extraordinary young dressage stallion and is available to dressage breeders in the UK looking for a Hanoverian Stallion.

His sire Wavavoom is stallion with a wonderful temperament, power and paces. Not only is his breeding genetic exemplary, Woodlander Wavavoom has progeny which prove why he is a stallion of such renown.  18 of his progeny are listed as Elite and two of his colts are licensed – Woodlander Wild Child and also Woodlander Wales – both of whom are double licensing Champions. In 2010 and 2011, Woodlander Wavavoom qualified for every Young Horse Championship with scores of 8 and above, and as a 4 year old was runner up in the Badminton to Farouche. 2011 saw him as a finalist again at the National Dressage Championships and the Reserve Champion Shearwater 5 year old.  He gained his life approval from the German Bundeschampionat in 2012. As a six year old, he scored 86% at Advanced Medium

On his sire line, his sire and the dam of his sire, St Pr Louisiana, were bred by Woodlander Stud from a Westfalian line which produced seventeen Westfalian State Stallions and multiple Grand Prix horses, and in five generations he has no less than 14 State Premium mares.
