Horse Scout invests in star show jumpers

Horse Scout, which has secured global investment to further develop its innovative equestrian social network platform and help riders boost their professional careers, is to sponsor the next round of young show jumpers on the British Showjumping and Haddon Training Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme in its mission to nurture future Olympic stars.

Applications for the 2016/17 AASE programme open at the end of July and those accepted will have the opportunity to be coached and trained by some of the top sporting coaches and experts in the UK including Heike Holstein (flatwork) and Andrew Saywell (jumping).

The programme also gives participants (age 16-19) access to experts that focus on them as an athlete: a physiotherapist to help reduce imbalances and weaknesses, a dietitian to advise on nutrition, and a media trainer who can help develop communication skills.

Aimed at developing and preparing talented young upcoming athletes at the top of their game, the AASE programme provides training and education for those who have a real chance of excelling in their sport and competing at European and Olympic level.

The AASE programme also develops the riders into young professionals within the sport with many progressing to start and run their own businesses.

Haddon Training has delivered AASE for British Showjumping since 2013 with 100 young riders completing the 12-15-month programme which culminates in a Level 3 nationally recognised qualification — equivalent to two A-Levels and 85 UCAS points.

Corinne Bracken, AASE Programme Manager, says: “The programme covers all the core components including technical, tactical, mental and physical skills delivered by industry experts, plus those that are essential to attracting owners and sponsors to the sport. It’s great that global organisations such as Horse Scout recognise the importance of supporting future stars.”

How to apply:Any young rider seeking details on the AASE application process should contact staci.cox@haddontraining.co.uk

For Breeders Looking to Improve Performance with a Show Jumping Stallion: Balebeh offers concessions to Grade A mares.

For those breeding to improve performance in show jumping the stallion Balenbeh is a handsome, compact, well made Selle Italiono with a good shoulder slope and humorous length giving him a good shape over a fence. Now campaigned by Emma Jowsey here in the UK.

Standing at Ballinmore Stud in Yorkshire this lovely show jumping performance stallion has already proved his genetics with offspring competing in the international arena. As a young sire his progeny included A Brok a chestnut KWPN 2005 gelding15 currently competing at a 1.50m level with Rein Pill, and the KWPN Registered Bay Stallion Abaldo.

Bred in Holland by Alessandro Pellegrini, an internationally recognised Show Jumping Breeder, who has bred and produced top show jumpers for more than 20 years. Balebeh was Graded and Approved with the Zangersheide stud as a 4 year old Stallion and was 5th at the Dutch National Stallion Championships. He is also a Graded AES Stallion and has been awarded the Silver Stallion Medal with the BSJA.

His Show Jumping career was started in Italy at 6 years old and he has competed at CSI 4* Level, jumping here in the UK and in Italy.

Babelehs’ own show jumping genetics are assured. His sire is the Olympic stallion Baloubet du Rouet . Baloubet du Rouet is a 3 times World Champion Show Jumping Stallion with 2 gold medals and an Olympic Team Bronze. And this line comes from Galbouet by Alme, also an Olympic stallion, winning team gold at the World Show Jumping Championships in 1982.

His dam Tallisman Girl (Lucky boy xx. ) has also bred Millemiglia (2001) who is already successfully campaigned by the Italian International Show Jumper Filippo Moyersoen. Another relation from Alessandro Pellegrinis’ stable is Adwana (Lucky Boy/Lucky Boy xx) is campaigned by International Show Jumper, turned Eventer, Juan Carlos Garcia.

Lucky Boy XX has 27 approved stallions to his name and is clearly one of the key foundation stallions of the modern Show Jumper.

This well made show jumping stallion, Balebeh, has a neat, powerful jump. He is an agile stallion with plenty of power and yet has a surprisingly long stride, which is why he has been successful on the international tracks. He also has the best of temperaments, not only to cope with the stresses of a show jumping career but also one which makes him a dream to handle at home.

For Breeders looking for an excellent stallion which offers good value this show jumping improver stallion has a Stallion Profile on Horse Scout and offers concessions to Grade A Show Jumping Mares.

Balou Star

Show Jumping Stallions Review: Balou Star

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Looking for Show Jumping Stallions? Balou Star is your man. This Grade A Oldenburg is jumping 1.50 with Millie Allen (AASE3 Haddon Training at Hartbury) on the GB British Juniors Show Jumping Squad.

Millie Allen believes her winning performance may have been down to the bird poo which landed on her in the warm up! Well, I suppose it is a possibility but there is no doubt at all that it was down to skill of the rider and the fantastic performance of the Show Jumping Stallion Balou Star living up to his name.

This stallion is the sire of approved AES Stallion Balou Blue Diamond. In 2014, the top scoring foal at the BEF Futurity was Jorvik Star, out of a Cruyff mare. He was awarded an elite premium with an outstanding score of 9.20 which was the highest score awarded to any foal in the entire 2014 UK Futurity circuit. The Judges (Lucinda Sims, Jennie Loriston Clarke and Bridget Parker) said, “Jorvik Star has super proportions and an active walk as well as a balanced and powerful canter.” “We spent many hours searching for a stallion to complement C Vera Z and having always admired the Quick Star and Balou de Rouet bloodlines, we found the young, little known German-based stallion Balou Star” said Kate.

Balou Star himself scored a perfect 10 for his jumping at his own licencing grading in Alsfeld in 2008. On the Balou Star website, there is a quote from F. Solle, breeding manager of the Hessian Association, “we had a special highlight in the loose jumping. Caution, overview, skill, reflexes and technique. Balou Star demonstrates almost perfectly how we wish the sequence at the jump out of a fluent, handy gallop.”

In 2008 at the 4-year-old stallions performance test in Erbach, he was reserve champion of the riding ponies. Also, against a field of 42 international top horses, he was awarded the maximum possible score of 10 twice for jumping manner and ability at the 30-days-test in Schlieckau. “The little fighter has a big heart and an enormous canter with large ground cover. Because of this as well as his enormous transmission, Balou Star is suitable for the higher level of show jumping”

The first breeding years already resulted in some prize-winning premium foals. In November 2012, Balou Star’s first son Butterfly Flip was licensed in Pferdestammbuch Weser-Ems.

His first foals are showing good jumping technique and conformation. Like their sire Balou Star, they “search” for the fence

His genetic line is full of proven jumping stars. His two grandsires Baloubet du Rouet and Quick Star are the top ranked WBFSH sires also sharing a common sire Galoubet A, descended from The Sire of the Century, Alme Z.

This lovely 15.74 cm Grade A Oldenburg stallion has frozen semen available in the UK.

Woodlander Wild Child

British Breeding; Woodlander Wild Child

Woodlander Wild Child – A British Hanoverian Stallion and a futurity star mapped by his superb breeding.

A future dressage superstar By Woodlander Wavavoom x Woodlander Farouche, this beautifully made stallion at stud is a 16.3hh chestnut graded WBS UK.

The futurity evaluators commented on his “excellent proportions, balanced trot and his superb freedom in his shoulder” when Woodlander Wild Child scored 9.79, the highest futurity premium ever awarded at Solihull 2011.

Woodlander Farouche (his dam) had two foals and both were born by embryo transfer. Crucially though, the genetic link has not fostered a parental bond! “We’ve got an interesting photo of them glaring at each other in a car park.” said owner Lynne Crowden.

Woodlander Wild Child is a Double Futurity Elite WBS Foal and Supreme Champion Licensed Stallion (Hannoverian, WSB-UK) – Double Licensing Champion. “A champion all the way from the day he was born” say his owners.

Woodlander Wild Child became the WBS: UK Supreme Champion in 2011, and in 2013 he was again the top dressage two year old and then gained a stallion licensing “double” with both the Hannoverian International and the WBS – UK. His World Champion mother is Woodlander Farouche who was not only a world record holder for a dressage score, she also had a top scoring approved Hannoverian sire in Woodlander Wavavoom. Woodlander Wild Child is certainly from the best of the best.

He is an extraordinary young dressage stallion and is available to dressage breeders in the UK looking for a Hanoverian Stallion.

His sire Wavavoom is stallion with a wonderful temperament, power and paces. Not only is his breeding genetic exemplary, Woodlander Wavavoom has progeny which prove why he is a stallion of such renown.  18 of his progeny are listed as Elite and two of his colts are licensed – Woodlander Wild Child and also Woodlander Wales – both of whom are double licensing Champions. In 2010 and 2011, Woodlander Wavavoom qualified for every Young Horse Championship with scores of 8 and above, and as a 4 year old was runner up in the Badminton to Farouche. 2011 saw him as a finalist again at the National Dressage Championships and the Reserve Champion Shearwater 5 year old.  He gained his life approval from the German Bundeschampionat in 2012. As a six year old, he scored 86% at Advanced Medium

On his sire line, his sire and the dam of his sire, St Pr Louisiana, were bred by Woodlander Stud from a Westfalian line which produced seventeen Westfalian State Stallions and multiple Grand Prix horses, and in five generations he has no less than 14 State Premium mares.

Woodlander Farouche

Stud and Breeding Review: Woodlander Farouche Pedigree

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Firstly, congratulations to Woodlander Farouche and Michael Eiberg on their brilliant win at Bolesworth!

Woodlander Farouche is the dam of Woodlander Wild Child.  Her pedigree is the topic of the moment, and Woodlander Stud are experts in the art of breeding, with genetics and form being their fundamental principals.  Woodlander Stud explain what exactly (as near as you can guess these things) has made Woodlander Farouche the amazing mare that she is – ”Her dam Dornroeschen is a very, very good mare (and proven in competition) but you would want to improve her ‘roundness’ as she has a rather angular body. Farouche’s sire, Fuerst Heinrich, was a very round horse, big but not with exceptionally long legs, but he was World Champion himself, as was Dornroeschen’s sire, Dimaggio. Fuerst Heinrich seemed a good choice and we were blessed with what may be a once in a lifetime result – the close to perfect Farouche.” Her sublime test at Bolsworth just a few hours ago has justified her flood of Tweets and Facebook comments over the last few hours.

Woodlander Farouches’ dam, Woodlander Studs mare Woodlander Dornroschen, was Horse & Hounds Outstanding Mare Winner last year. Lynne Crowden, her owner, bought her from Brightwells Auctions in foal. British European team medallist Michael Eilberg also owns Dornroschens half brother out of the same mare.

Dornroschen herself is a successful international small tour horse (with three 1st s and a 2nd at Barcelona in March this year) and both she and Farouche are ridden by Michael Eilberg.

What makes Woodlander Farouche so good? “First and foremost are her genetics. Through considered breeding, they have given her the perfect conformation and mechanics for super uphill and expressive paces as well as a temperament that ensures she has a trainable mind” says Carole Mortimer.

Definitely hitting the nail on the head and congratulations must go to Michael Eiberg, Woodlander Stud and of course the lovely mare herself Woodlander Farouche.
