The Enlightened Equitation Teaching covers the riders position and more effective use and correct timing of aids in all paces and lateral work. The balance of the rider and use of aids can very much affect the horses balance We use Work in Hand, Groundwork,, lunging and ridden training using Bent Branderups' Academic Art of Riding methods and Marijke de Jongs' Straightness Training. We also use some liberty training too in some instances.We feel that the horse must first learn to be relaxed, slow and calm while being worked, as without this basis to start from there will be no ability to remain calm, supple when using more energy and power. If things are rushed they will have to be forced. If it is forced it is not beautiful. We do compete some of our horses but not all of them are suitable for competition - so if they would not enjoy it we don't compete them as it should be good fun for both the horses and the riders.
