Based in Shamley Green, Surrey, Monks Stud breed superior sport horses out of the best show jumping bloodlines in the world. Owned and managed by Charlie Swanston the peaceful yard set among 30 acres of beautiful grazing is the perfect environment for breeding and producing quality sport horses.
After four years Monks boasts outstanding foundation mares by Baloubet du Rouet, Casall, Sandro Boy, Mr Blue, Emerald, and London to name a few, and direct sire lines including foals born by Quickstar, Stakkato, Cornet Obolensky, Nonstop and Kannan.
Specialising in the breeding, sale and import of elite showjumping foals, youngstock and competition horses, Monks Stud is proud to source outstanding sport horses throughout Europe for private clients and Monks own competition string.
In 2014 Monks Stud bred 13 exceptional world class showjumping foals which are now registered under the Monks prefix. Charlie's main focus was about the mare lines as much as the stallions. She says "Many breeders seem to forget the importance of a strong motherline when breeding. I feel very strongly that the mother is very much present within our foals and all of our own mares were sourced with the best breeding possible. Our best mares have included the direct sires Baloubet du Rouet, Mr Blue, Sandro Boy, Casall and London. We breed to only the best stallions with a proven breeding and competition record at the highest level with direct Olympic sires including Quickstar, Kannan, Cornet Obolensky and Stakkato."
A bespoke breeding, AI and foaling service is available to clients at Monks Stud as well as select vacancies for full and competition liveries. 2015 will see some very exciting times ahead.
