Bickerstaffe Hall Stable Yard

Ormskirk, Lancashire
We opened in 1988 as a diversification on a working farm with just two stables. Over time, more were built to utilise the old brick buildings, now unsuitable for modern farm machinery, but offering excellent accommodation for horses. There are now more than 60 stables, located in separate areas of the yard, each having its own sense of identity. The yard is well equipped with outdoor tie-up rings, hard standing, several taps and an easily accessible muck heap, helping to promote good stable management. We have a range of stables housing anything from miniature ponies up to 17Hh horses. The majority are brick built, but some wooden stables are also available. Each has its own securable tack room, and this is situated adjacent to or behind the stable. We are a very well maintained and professionally managed BHS approved yard with an emphasis on courtesy and respect for each other. We promote the importance of health and safety as a priority for all of our clients and their equines, and encourage tidiness and cleanliness at all times. We grow our own hay, haylage and wheat straw, and endeavour to provide good quality forage and bedding at all times. 56 acres of pasture allow us to offer year round grazing on well-maintained securely fenced fields, from small paddocks up to eight acres.
