Why is this important? Imagine I sit on your shoulders and wobble around – does it make it easy for you to walk straight?
Horses are not designed to have us sitting on them, slouching puts more pressure on their vulnerable lumbar region.
We need to be balanced and symmetrical in order to give them the chance to function accurately, to take off and land smoothly.
The idea is to illicit action through accurate signaling – if your horse falls out on one shoulder or over bends one way or stops at a jump – it may not be all him, it may be that your lifestyle, previous injuries, habits, and/or confidence is playing a major part in this.
