Manhattans First Choice (Annie) is a once in a lifetime competitive pony, who is ready and willing to show any rider the ropes. She has competed up to BE100 with her current rider and is always in the placings, including placing 3rd at Richmond (BE90) and 7th at Askham Bryan (BE90) in her first season of eventing last year, as well as qualifying for regional finals and the Yorkshire challenge, and more recently placing 8th at Northallerton this season.
She is able to showcase her three flowing paces on the flat resulting in her consistently scoring in the 20s and low 30s in her event tests. She is very easy to ride on the flat with a lovely temperament. Annie has a bold jump and can turn on a sixpence allowing her to regularly produce an impressive showjumping round, with the scope to go higher as she regularly schools around a 1m10 track with ease. XC is Annie's favourite discipline and therefore what she excels at. She is willing, honest and puts her all into any jump. She will jump off any stride no matter how complex the fence and will always help her rider out. Her only faults have been purely rider errors, as her current rider was just as new to eventing as she was. Similarly, Annie loves to hunt and has hunted with the Rockwood Harriers for the last three seasons. Annie is stabled on a hunt yard so isn't phased by any aspect of the sport.
She is good to catch, handle, box, travel, and for the dentist as well as the farrier, although she isn't shod and just has her feet regularly trimmed. She has a fun and playful personality whilst also being chilled out as she is regularly ridden and handled by children as young as 6 years old. She loves being fussed and pampered and is a delight to be around. Annie is the perfect combination of being easy going in all ways, including around dogs, farm animals and heavy farm machinery, but also knows her job when she is out competing.
